My first Gent with the rhodium finish. I like it with the darker wood varieties. It should also go well with acrylics. Finishing this one was a PITA... I think I did the cap three times all together.

A PITA? I have always found cocobolo to be very easy to finish. That is, no finish. I micro-mesh it to 12,000 and it looks like a piece of marble. That is one beautiful pen. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks Rich. Yes, after I MM to 12000 it looks great. But then I apply CA for durability and sometimes I have a hard time getting the CA to adhere to the cocobolo because it's so oily.

Patrick. I have NOT tried this, because I don't do CA finishes (yet), but you might try a wash of shellac on the cocobolo before you do the CA. The shellac will seal the wood before you do the cocobolo. Just a suggestion.

By the way, gorgeous pen!!

PITA Pain in the Arizona:D Well hard work or not I'd say you did a fine job. I've really got to put pens on my TDL (To Do List)
