I stopped in to my local chain saw dealer and asked him if he had any used saws for sale. This is what he came up with. They went totally through it and it runs like a top! It is much more powerful than my Husky and now I have a backup if one goes down.

What a week gloat, you don't even tell us what model saw it is!

Just kidding congrats!

It is a 045 AV Super Electronic Ignition.

It says is was made in West Germany.

I saw one one Google with a 36" bar but I have a 20" on it now.

Great saw. My original Stihl lasted almost 20 years with hard use. Just chains and a couple of bars..with the usual maintenence stuff. Keep the smaller bar you will enjoy the power..maybe a 24 max. Get the straight cut chain (yellow label) and hang on! :)

Congrats on your new old saw Pete! Looks like it should rip through just about anything!

Just picked up a Husky myself and can't believe how much difference there is between a 'consumer' saw and a 'pro' model!

Have fun with it and work safe!!

Yea...and that's a nice hunk of cherry it's sitting on, too!! (Congrats on the "new" saw!)

Nice saw Pete. A long time ago I had a Stihl 031 that looked very much like that. It was a heck of a good saw until I felled a tree on it.
