This box elder burl statesman will be the guestbook pen for a friend's wedding next month. It's also their wedding present from me. I got a nice wooden box for presenting it as well.

Thanks brodie, this is stabilized box elder burl from CUSA. I love the stabilized blanks; minimal-to-no voids and very easy finishing. I still do the CA slurry and use at least one coat of the CA/BLO treatment to ensure a high gloss. They say you can finish them like acrylics but I have not been able to get the gloss without adding CA as well.

What a wonderful gift and idea to use it for the guests to sign with. The stabilized box elder looks great. I have several junior statesmen and gents to make up with the elder and hope mine come out as nicely as yours did.

Thanks everyone! I gave it to the groom today, and he said that it was incredible! He said that other folks ordered stuff online from the registry and he felt like this means so much more to him. He said it was hands down the best gift they've received. :cool:

Now I hope it passes the dreaded "bride test"! :eek:
