Yesterday, my all original patent date 1873 stanely 46 arrived with the original box and all the cutters. It is very old.

Two issues. first, the front cross bar wont screw all the way into the left side of the plane--? I suppose it needs to be retapped? neither of the cross piecs will screw all the way in on that one and both or either will screw into the rear one.

Secondly and the reason for this post: how does one use a 46 for cross grain dados? I made some longitudinal cuts and they turned out just awsome!! However, how does one dado across a board with this tool?

Thanks in advance, Jeff Larsen
