I am building a corner cupboard and am thinking of using colonial style "Rat Tail Hinges". Does anyone have experience with these and can recomend a source?

Bruce,
I tried to get LOML to let me put them on a piece I made for her as they are pretty period-style specific as to when they are used. She said no, no & NO.
I forget where I saw the ones I showed her, but google hand forged hinges or hardware for numerous sources. The ones I was going to buy were from a blackmith in New Hampshire..... maybe if someone like Dave Anderson sees this thread he can chime in.

Try Horton Brass in CT. They make a full line of both brass and wrought iron period furniture hardware. My purchases from them of antiqued brass hinges have been of outstanding quality.

Ball & Ball Hardware in Exton Pa.
Has been a long time since I've used them ,they are very fussy to install and make sure stiles are wide enough to allow for curve of tail, espically if there are doors shareing the same stile. Good luck with them, they are a nice detail.
