I was poking around Wally World today and walked through the tool isle. I happen to pick up a Stanley Fat Max 3/4" Chisel and I thought it looked like a decent chisel for about 1O bucks. Made in England. Kind of surprised me since I think the stanley stuff s pretty much a shadow of its former self in quality. Anybody have any experience with the Fat Max Chisels?

Hi Ken,

Welcome to the Creek.

Haven't tried the fat max myself. If you are looking for some decent and reasonably priced chisels the Irwin/Marples four piece Blue chip set (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1")is hard to beat. Lowes used to have the best price on it at $20. It is probably a bit more now. It is a good starter set that you ay not outgrow and if you do are still decent chisels for when you don't want to use your 40+++ dollar chisel!

You will get better replies over on the neanderthal side. It is not as scary over there as it sounds, a lot quieter to. :D
