Ive seen a picture and some plans for a pair of saw horses to handle 8x4 sheets i think they were made from 6 x 2 with notches cut in then 4 x 2s dropped in. I have searched every where but i cant find them again. Any of you blokes point me in the right direction
Cheers Kenny from a sunny (at last) England

How about a portable panel cutting table? I found this on the web and it has been invaluable ever since I built it...Weighs less than 2 sawhorses too.

A grid structure that can sit on low horses or other objects like rectangular boxes for multiple height choices, provides support for the sheets, especially when you need to cut off smaller pieces from the sheet stock. Half-lapped notches are all you need for this and you don't really need super heavy stock to do it, either. Completely knock down, too.

I put this one together with the DowelMax and have no nails to worry about. :D

I've been using it on low saw horses it took me an hour to make but I finally broke down and got the foldable table legs for it. Works like a champ.

Ken,
Here is a thread about the saw horses you're thinking of:
http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=8083
I got the plans from Frank Pellow when he was active on this forum. I made a set of these and they are terrific. I use John Lucas's method of setting them up with a 4x8 sheet of ply, followed by a 4x8 sheet of foam insulation (around 2" thick) on top of that. I then place the 4x8 sheet of plywood for my project on top of that and cut it down using a guided circular saw system (you cut into the foam by design to prevent tearout). The plans originated in Pop Woodworking. If you PM me with your email address I will send you the plans (not sure it would be kosher to simply post them here).

Since they are from Popular WW you may want to check their site. They have a lot of their plans available.
