Rustic Furniture Finish

Hi,

I'm normally hanging out in the turner's forum. However, I have some extra wood collected from tree trimmings around the neighborhood that I plan on making some rustic furniture from.

My question is this - has anyone found a particular finish is better for rustic furniture with bark on?

I'm particularly interested in something that will help seal & help keep the bark on.
