More elm burl, but this time a vase. Sanded to 1200 the sprayed with poly.

Sorry, about 9" tall. It is hollowed for both a vase, and if you look closely you an see a rim in the top to hold a candle.;)

Judging by some of those large voids you must of hand sanded the whole thing. Were you able to power sand any of it?

Did you have a lot of issues turning the 'shadow'?

No power sanding as in using a dri;; or other sander on it. Just holding sandpaper as the lathe turns. No problems with turning the shaddow. It was actually relatively easy to turn.
