Below is a rocker I made for a client. Mahogany with the inlay made of walnut and the L of padauk. Also a walnut stripe in the rockers. It's the nicest one I've made so far. I keep tweaking it to improve it more and more.

Brian,
Gorgeous rocker, what finish did you use?

Thanks,
Finish is an oil poly mix. I usually apply the mix without wiping it off and then rub out the gloss with steel wool to get the desired sheen and silk feel I want. The photos are actually prior to rubbing it out.

Brian, Your rocker is beautifully crafted......I know your client will be extremely happy!

Is the walnut stripe in the rockers inlaid or laminated?

Nice Job!

Cool rocker, I have a lot of respect for you rocker makers. I hope to reach that level of skill someday.

That is a really fine looking chair.

I like the walnut in the rocker, it sure adds a lot to the look.

Great job.:)

Brian,

Great work, have you had a chance to build yourself one yet? I am actually in the process of finally building one for myself, a couple years back I had made one for my wife and another for my mother.

So is the "L" the clients initial or something similar?

The "L" is of the client's last name.

The rockers are laminations. 4 of the mahogany and 1 of the walnut.

Yes I have my own -the one named Favorite rocker at my website. Though if someone offered me the right price I'd let it go.

That is a beauty. Somewhere WAYYYY down the road I may try a chair. If I don't crash and burn too bad I may try a rocker. Great work.
