I have just got my hands on over 1000 bf of this wood that looks kind of like mahogany but not exactly like it. It has more blonde tone than any of the mahogany in my shop. Anyway, if anyone knows what I have please let me know. If it helps, the wood came from the bleachers in our high school basketball gym that was built in the 1950's.

Lauan --- aka Phillipine mahogany. It looks somewhat like real mahogany, but doesn't have the chatoyance. It was popular in the fifties. It is botanically unrelated to real mahogany.

I believe that I agree wirth Jamie. If it is very splintery and has a light pink tint. If not, it could Mylasian (White Mahogany) which is noted for it's lighter creamer color.
