My mother came over for a visit this weekend, which is cool because she almost always shows up with some lumps of wood from a guy near where she lives who knows I like to wrestle with the stuff while dancing with Janine. We were just sitting around catching up on news, when she says, "So tell me, what's the big deal with this woodturning thing anyway?"

Out to the barn we go....

69485

It was really hot and humid so she opted not don the flak jacket et al.

We got all the way up to about 25 rpms before she cried uncle.

But then at supper last night, she asked, "Can we do that again?"

Uh-oh, Andy. You realize that you have just cut off your supply of wood from your mother's neighbor, don't you? Not only that, but you may have to rearrange your shop and buy another lathe and.....

Matribysseration! Aren't there laws against that? Well since you only have half her genes it may turn out that she was the one that gave you your turning talent and she will be outspinning you in short order. ;)

Sorry, Barry. But nope. I aint gonna take her down Easy Street.

She'll have to suffer through upgrades like the rest of us.

Thanks guys. Suggest you drag your kin out to the barn some time too. It was a lot of fun.

Pretty neat Andy, I have had my granddaughter on the lathe and she loves it. Doesn't live close enough to make it a regular trip.

I think it would be great to turn something together. Something you'll have forever along with the memories.

Actually seeing Andy's work, or lack there of lately. I think his mom skimped on giving him the talent genes!

Here's her wishing for a WHITE Mayo Christmas!!!

We got all the way up to about 25 rpms before she cried uncle.

She'd have gotten twice that with Mustard.:D :D :D

I'm with Nancy.....you've effectively cut off your wood supply. Way to go, bub!

Way to go Andy. Now she'll be asking for "Mustard"!! Better watch out, she'll be giving you a run for your money on turning. :D
