Fein Multimaster: What is the best price/deal?

I'm looking to buy a Fein Multimaster w/variable speed. Anyone gotten a great deal anywhere? What is the best price/deal to be had?

I've been casually looking at the Multimaster for some time now. The price seems to depend on what accessories/blades you want included in the package. I noticed that there is one vendor on eBay selling new 636-2 RS Variable Speed for $189.00. Another vendor has the new model FMM250 Start for $199 both include shipping. I believe the FMM250 Start has the new tooless blade change system. I don't know if these are the best prices around, but they look pretty good.

I was interested to read about the tooless blade change. I have the Fein Multimaster, love it because of what it does, that nothing else seems to be able to do, making those unusual cuts on site for example, but my one complaint, and it is not a big one, is that although you tighten the blade down really well, it can slip a little bit. So for example, the square cutting blade, which looks like the side of a triangle so to speak, winds up changing its angle a little bit, once in a while when you are cutting. So you just realign the angle of the tool to compensate for it. But judging from the accuracy, and sophistication of the tool, this minor anomalie should be corrected. It seems to me they would take that into consideration, and possibly have fixed it with the tool less blade change. Anyone have any input on that? Would like to know.
As far as pricing is concerned, the best thing to do is ask here. (Oh you already did that :) ) Googling the model number and name of the maker, and tool then clicking through a few listed sites, will ineveitably lead you to one of those price shopper, comparison sites, that lists a lot of different sources. Some of them even post the shipping costs right alongside the tool cost, so you can better price it more accurately. Of course Amazon is always a good place to shop, and read the reviews, but doesn't always have the dead lowest price, but they usually offer free shipping. It's a convenience thing. Hope this helps.

Whatever you pay for the Multimaster, you'll get a bargain!

It's the most useful site tool there is, particularly with the E cut blades. I have to agree with the point about the blades slipping, though. Perhaps they've solved that with the new model.

Over here we'd have to pay around £140 for the full kit in a nice carrying case. That's $280 but hey, we're a long way from Germany!

My existing accesory kit is in the old style.

I only use the DC attachment when I'm sanding something that takes me longer than a few minutes. It actually works...but I'd say it's up your on wallet.

I am thinking of buying the fein tool. $799 ES400E

I was told the 400 watt unit with the square arbor is the way to go. Very HD as I recall.

My business calls for cutting out old alum windows... I need something to get between alum /vinyl siding and the alum window frame so I can cut the nailing fin and leave the fin underneath and pull the window.

any thoughts to my idea?..anything better?

Just used mine to remove the old vent/sun light on my trailer.
Layers of calk and sealant. Cut right through the sticky gunk in no time. I really like this tool.:cool:

When I looked at it I came away thinking that it's probably really handy for close tight work and most of that is in rennovation - - but that's about it. Is there more? Am I wrong?

I use it for all kinds of things but it is really worth its weight in gold when installing built-in furniture.

Ever had to cut a skirting board in situ nice and square in order to remove a section and fit a cabinet up to it? Tenon saw followed by chisel?

The Fein will do it in seconds. I do a lot of built-ins and it would be worth having a Fein for this job alone!
