I just got a postcard from the Fine Tool Journal announcing the:

31st Tool Sale and International Antique Tool Auction
being held at the
Sheraton Four Points (717 561-2800)
in Harrisburg PA on
October 26th and 27th 2007.

I've never attended this gathering and was wondering if it was worth it. I'm not in the market for a $5000 hand plane. I just want to browse and see if there is anything in my price range. Can you buy a nice user Bedrock there?

Do manufacturers of new hand planes show up here and sell their wares? Or is it just all collectibles?

I guess I'm expecting a hand tool show, rather than an auction.

Who has attended this show and what were your impressions?

Thanks,

Hi Dom -

Well worth it - you can see a lot, learn a lot, an even buy a lot... or several "lots"... :)

While you may not see flea market pricing - there are usually dealer tables, with something for everyone.

Cheers -

Rob

Sounds pretty cool. If all goes according to plan, I will be there for at least one day (it's only a 2 hour drive for me).

BTW, I promise to TRY not to bid against anything you're bidding on. :D

Thanks,
Dominic
