I just got done staining a bookcase and now ready for poly. Question is how should I apply this, there are 2 shelves towards the top about 4 inchs apart and hard to get at. Should I use a brush or clothe or some other way?? Thanks for replies.

Brushing is pretty tough in such tight quarters, so I would likely use a wiping varnish applied with a cloth. I'd go with a traditional resin varnish, such as Waterlox, or Behlen Rockhard (thinned to wiping consistency) in preference to poly.

Sorry about posting in the wrong area. Thanks Steve for your input and can I purchase these at Home Depot or the like?

They are more likely to be available at a real paint store. The big boxes seem to have fallen for the poly is everything myth.
