Back in October, we launched the first Neander Meander event and it was so successful, that we decided to make it an annual affair. A description and photos of the highlights are included here:

Afterwards, we decided to make it an annual event and that each one would be a high quality event with a significant educational component. The Neander Meander 2004 will be held in the vicinity of Lake Joseph beginning Friday July 2 and will run for between 5 and 7 days.

The reason we have selected these dates is because they coincide with the 2004 ACBS Wooden Boat Show at Gravenhurst. This is one of North America’s premier shows featuring mahogany launches and the like:

We will, of course hold Ben’s requisite Opening Night Single Malt Tasting. There will be evening speakers and likely a night of Dinner Theatre. We are trying to arrange a one-day canoe-paddle building seminar – and perhaps a race on the lake the next day! Plane building may involve our new thumb plane (across the board) making logistics easier. We are also trying to arrange a tour of Duke Boat Works and/or Giesler Boat Works in Powassun:

It would also be good to have as many spouses attend, as possible. We will take care in ensuring that the location and the agenda are conducive to a good family outing.

In any event, we wanted to give everyone good notice.

Regards,

Doug and Ben
