Wiping Varnishes..

Hi,
I've heard some people say they won't buy wiping varnishes because they are paying for 50% mineral spirits. My question is twofold:
1) is a pre-made wiping varnish (e.g. Arm-R-Seal) any better than mixing your own?
2) On small items such as jewelry boxes, trays, etc., will I notice any difference between thinning MinWax Poly myself vs. some more pricey wipe-on finish like Arm-R-Seal?

2) no, and if you use a non-poly varnish it may even look better... ;)
