I am in the process of setting up a new PM2000. I installed the fence and when I measured the flatness of the fence face I got a variance of .008 on the left fence face and .004 on the right face.
The fence is alligned in that the front and the back are within .001 of each other as measured from the Miter Slot. However when running the dial indicator in the slot to align the fence I noticed that it varies to .005 on one side of 0 and .003 on the other side of 0 (totalling .008) when measuring the left face. Is this acceptable.
I also had to adjust the height of the faces and am now wondering if the method listed in the manual (using the shims) introduced forces on the faces to cause this uneveness.
I used to use a Delta T Square fence with metal faces, and the tolerances were much tighter (in the neighborhood of .002)
