I revised the horizontal vise for my Makita slider and made the profile lower, made the assembly easier and added the the thumb lever type release as shown in Don Taylor's photos.
Old one works okay, but this one is nicer and easier to make. Hard maple and Birch ply.
I also increased the screw rod holding the half nut to #6 because harder to find #4 in that length.

Seems like this could be adapted for bench dog holes...

rather elegant little gadget you have there.
I think I have uses for that. Thanks.

Thanks.

Somehow one of the notes on the drawing disappeared.
The lock (or jam) nuts above and below the lever should not be tight against the lever because the lever rocks back a little. So leave a minimum of 1 turn (1/32") gap.
(I changed the drawing attached to the first post)

I'm thinking if I can get a decent price on some 6 foot all-thread, I may try some quick release bar clamps with some minor mods to this design like higher profile and stabiliziing feet. The bodies are easily removable, so you could just stock lengths of all thread. Don't know if it is cost effective relative to pipe clamps, but it quite possibly is. The work goes pretty fast once you've made one and making multiples should really cut down the build time.
But I hope someone beats me to it, because I've got plenty of other stuff to do right now.
