Came across this tonight at the borg. Thought it was a good idea. Anyone else use one of these?

why do you need to drill a hole with an impact driver?

The title of the thread is what Makita calls the product on their packaging. I thought it would be a slick way to add a keyless chuck to my cordless Dewalt 7.2V screwdriver. I use the 1/4" shank drill bits with it sometimes but the ones I have are pretty cheapy made but pretty pricey and limited in size as I only own a few. This would allow me to do the same work with better quality bits potentially. Also I have had the bits come out of the 1/4" shanks as well. I could definately tighten the bits in better with this chuck.

Also on this subject kind of - anyone ever install a keyless chuck on a floor model drill press? I have the Steel City 17" Drill press and thought a keyless chuck might be nice. The Jacobs chuck on there is pretty nice though so I would want one with at least as good a quality as the Keyed chuck if possible.

nothing wrong with what you want. better quality drill bits makes life easier.
I pretty much only use keyless chucks. both my drill presses have them. they work great and are far nicer for quick bit changes. I bought them from grizzly. you either get an import or a really expensive one. not sure if there is anything inbetween.

Steve, Which keyless chuck from grizzly do you recommend? BTW, Looks like I have a MT2 on the Steel City DP.
