Since the oval kitchen table is taking for ever and has taken a toll on my nerves, I thought it was time to take a break and turn something that I've only turned one of since I've been turning wood.
Bradford Pear
14" across by 1/8" thick
Danish Oil finish
It won't win any prizes, but I like it. ;)

I know what you mean by taking a break from other things. When I need a "fix" I make some tops. There is nothing like instant gratification. Nice BP platter.

Very nice platter Dennis. Turning out something like that sure is great therapy for frazzled nerves.

Nice job, Dennis...and yes, it's good to take a turning break once in awhile. If I could only physically get to my lathe, I'd do the same! (Too many vanities in front of it at the moment...)

I like it, and if I had an award to give I would!!! SORRY!
Only critique is a personal opinion. I would prefer, especailly on platters, a duller finish. Not such a high polish/luster. You did excellent on the finish you applied, just not what I would have chosen. Again personal preference, not anything you did wrong.
