Good Evening All,

Finished these two mantle clocks this evening. Both are made of walnut. One has a piece of curly maple in between the body and the base. Finish is BLO and lacquer rubbed out with paste wax.

Thanks for looking,
Bob

I am green with envy! I have been wanting to build a mantle clock for my wife for the past year and never seem to have enough time to get started. Very nice job and another fine example for me to use for this future project :-)

Bob,
Really nice work. The way finish/grain glows is beautiful. How many coats of lacquer?

Presents I presume? Or do you have a lot of fireplaces? ;)

Thanks for the kind comments folks.

Halsey, I build non-union clocks so I don't have to put up with striking! :D (Sorry, I just couldn't resist) No, they don't as I hate noisy clocks that wake me up in the middle of the night.

Wes, I think I put on four coats of lacquer over one coat of BLO. Part of the "glow" may be from rubbing out the lacquer with paste wax. One of them is for SWMBO and the other will probably be a gift for someone, unless SWMBO decides she wants them both!

Todd, Not sure what time I took the pictures. I forgot to look at my watch! :D

Thanks again,
Bob

LOL! Don't you know that clocks should always be at either 1:50 or 10:10 when photographed?? :D

Seriously, look at any ad for a clock or watch...10:10 is usually the time on them.
