First off Ron - Welcome to the Creek - you are going to love it here!

Very nice platter! Great looking wood and finish! Really like the foot area of the platter - nice detail work! Looking forward to seeing more of your turnings!

Ron, welcome to SMC. Beautiful platter and very interesting foot. How did you get the change in color on where you signed it? I find it very unique and like it a lot.

Excellent platter Ron!
But I can't help saying the photography doesn't do it justice. The blue cloth doesn't go well with the colour of the platter, but the whole setup is just inadequate for a beautiful piece like this.
Best wishes
Horst

Thanks for the welcome guys...it is appreciated

Jeff...The centre portion at the bottom is the result of turning a mortise instead of a tenon to hold it while doing the inside (bad Idea) I didn't like the way it looked so I turned a small piece of ash and glued it in then turned it until it looked ok

Horst...Your right my photography is in need of improvement...my little light box just wasn't big enough for this piece and I agree the blue doesn't do the piece justice
