I know the last one I showed of this wood I labeled it as Acacia, it was a mystery log from a tree trimmer. A turner I highly respect had told me the wood is Black Acacia. I believe after some further research it is really Sissoo also called Indian Rosewood which is a common tree in Pheonix.

The bowl is 6.5 x 3.25. The finsih is Minwax Antique oil and buffed, but I did not use the wax wheel. The foot is about 1.75 inches and I used a jam chuck to finish the foot.

This is the first footed piece I have done that I have been happy with the foot. Would love to hear you guy's opinion though.

Critiques are always appreciated.

Hello Mike,
There's nothing to criticise here I think. Beautiful wood, beautiful shape and the foot is very unobstrusive and blends well into the overall appearance of the bowl.

Very nice!. I like to use a foot on almost all of my bowls. I think it is an important part of the design element (for me). It raises the form above the surface and lends an appearance of "lift" to the piece. The size has to be just right, not too high or too wide. You have hit it well here.

One of the few pieces I have seen that the foot not only doesn't detract, but looks great. I absolutely love the wood, whether it is voodoo or acacia.

Another beauty Mike. Sissoo, Acacia, whatever it looks great.
I wish I have left the sap wood on the stuff I did with this stuff. I really like the contrast.

Mike, ditto to all that the others said! Looks like Indian Rosewood to me, also, but whatever, you used it well.
I also like that subtle ogee in the profile. Truly nice work!
