I've been to Rockler in Cambridge, MA and Woodcrafts in Woburn, MA, but the selection of new power tools at each store is pretty lame.

Anybody know of a real kick-ass power tool/woodworking store in Boston that I'm not familiar with? Will they let you test out the tools?

Nothing that I'm aware of in Boston. If you don't mind a 30-40 min drive, try Beaver Woodworking in Brockton. I bought a Delta Jointer & 14" bandsaw from them a few years ago. They display Powermatic, General and some other large tool brands on the floor. I think their website is www.beaverwoodworking.com (http://www.beaverwoodworking.com) if you need directions.

I'll second the Beaver Woodworking in Brocton. Make sure you have good driving directions. It can be a bear to get to Beaver. :D

I went there this other day, they have a pretty nice selection of tools including used items. The owner also did setup a wood working club in the basement.
A 1/2 mile down the road you will also find highland hardwood. http://www.highlandhardwoods.com/default.html

Hey guys....thanks for the heads up. I think I'll make a little trip up there. LOML is from Fitchburg, Ma. and we have never heard of this store. Great:eek:

Brentwood has new machinery and also used stuff in the basement.

I understand that they have done away with the used stuff in the basement.

That's interesting. I was there in May, and they still had it down there and were still buying used machinery. I'll have to go back up and check.

You could be right. Someone told me that was where the "club" was. I have not been there in several months, myself. Post the results of you investigation.

They moved the used machine up and now use the basement for their club. They have a nice setup down there.
