Is it really possible to rewire a motor from 3 phase to single phase as stated in this craigslist?

Not that I'm aware of ... but i'm betting, by the fact that it's a fairly common 14" bandsaw that the seller mistakenly said 3-phase when they'd actually meant it was currently wired for 220v but could be rewired for 110v. I'd still make absolutely sure by checking the motor name plate and confirming that the seller actually knows for sure that it's actually what they state.

I doubt that band saw was ever three phase. However, an idiot could have ruined the motor by wiring it up for three phase.

my bet, the motor is set to run at 220 single phase.

Go give it a look.

Cann't make the change from 3-phase to single-phase without a converter or a frequency drive. Probably the voltage change 220 to 110.

It's possible (though unlikely) that the motor has both 3phase and single phase windings (in the manner of a dual speed wound motor). Adds a lot of bulk and size for little or no return. But it is theoretically possible.

It looks there may be a static converter mounted on the saw.

If the spec plate on the motor lists 3* phase - just get a Variable frequency drive for this machine application and you will not regret it. they have so many extra features that you cant get with a single phase 220v system. :)
