Hi,

These are two of a series of box elder burls I have been turning this week, they are on chrome Barons.

These are my first all Canadian Barons from William Wood-Write (Canadian Supplier of Barons). So are these stabilized blanks.

I liked the blanks very much, they seemed to have a very dense stabilization and were easy to turn and finish with MM and polish.

I tried to make these as slim as I could without going flat on the bodies B2B.

Since these are stabilized, what did you use for finishing?

Thanks.

Nice look pens. Glad someone else like leaving those extra parts off the pen.

Very nice! That is some incredibly 3D looking wood!

I'm with you Mike,

I realy think the extra rings on the Baron look "kit like". I like the simple look of the thin ring.

Finish:
Pretty straight forward, I turn with a skew, smooth planing cuts, hone one last time before the "money cut", leaves a very smooth surface.

I wet sand with Abralon 500-1000-2000-4000, wet sand with MM 4000-6000-8000-12000, use Novus 2 polish......all with the lathe at 500 rpm, wiping clean between sanding sheets.

Aaahhh maaaannnnnn..........I thought that the title of this thread was a typo. I was hoping to read about Canadian Bacon.

They are nice looking pens though.
