I'm about 85% sure this is Elm, it came from a bigtime blank exchange we did back in April. It ended up with some neat ray flecks similar to Sycamore. 9 1/2" diameter by 5" tall, buffed Antique oil finish.

Travis that is beautiful. I really like the form and finish. I do believe you are right on it being Elm. That is a awesome looking piece of wood.

Travis those specs sure do make it look like sycamore but the dark piths look like elm. eautiful work as always. What type antique oil do you use? I cant seem to find it anywhere here in SC

Wonderful Travis!
How many coats of finish do you have on it?

That's a beauty Travis! That little rise at the opening looks great. That wood could just as easily be sycamore or elm, but it's pretty for sure.

Thanks everyone. John, Pete I used 2 coats of Minwax Antique oil. I get mine locally at Ace Hardware. I've seen it listed on Rockler's website.
