I refinished my floors with water base polycrylic about 6 years ago, they have held up well but over time become very dull in the walking paths. I considered putting another coat on but who knows what cleaner and wax is on them and also would have to clear the room. Since there are only a couple bad areas I want to hit them with my Rotex to buff them up to a shine what is the best way to do this? What should I start with 1000 then go to rotten stone or pumas? Or just do pumas?
I am looking for the fastest solution not perfection.

I wouldn't polish a floor with furniture technique's. You are just looking for someone to end up on their behind. Personally I'd scuff and recoat ASAP before you blow thru a spot. My favourite cleaner is by Bona hardwood floor cleaner and restorer.
