I have some kiln dried Redwood under a carport that has been there for a week. It reads 9% moisture content. What is the ideal moisture content to apply an oil based stain? Is there a chart that tells what moisture levels are recomended for various woods? Thanks for any advice/ input

I've been putting oil-based stain in Redwood for almost 30 years. After the wood has sat and reached local equilibrium I have never worried about the moisture content. Your's is probably there, the moisture reading sounds fine
