I repaired a section of a cherry rocker seat and had to sand the damaged area. Rocker is a year old.
I'm assuming when I refinish the seat the sanded area is going to appear lighter.
Will it gradually become as dark as the surrounding area?
Or, perhaps I could cover the darker areas and put it out in the sun?
Better off sanding the whole seat section?
Ideas? Suggestions?

I'd say be more concerned about your finish blending correctly. Covering the darkened areas and leaving the new area exposed (to sunlight) will leave a distinct shadow line between the two areas...it will blend back together fine.

Not trying to start anything but if area is going to get darker later, why not give it a little sunshine and make it sooner?

for a quick suntan hit the fresh sanded area with BLO, let that dry and then finish
