View Full Version : Mesquite Crotch Platter

Recieved a piece of Mesquite crotch wood from Ernie Nyvall (who I met in person this Spring....Nice guy, a bit nuts, but nice. ;) :D ).

It's 11"x1"x1/4" thick. First time burning, but I like it. Finished with Minwax Antique Oil, not buffed.

Any comments/critiques welcome.

Joe, that platter is just beautiful! I love the grain in that piece.

Joe,
contrary to popular belief you are supposed to turn mesquite, not make it into charcoal. I guess you showed you can do both with the same piece (j/k:D :D )

That's one heckuva a nice looking piece there Joe.

That's a beauty too! That burned rim really makes the grain stand out. I really like that.

Wow! Beautiful platter Joe! Love the combination of the color of the wood and the dark burned edge - great contrast! This is also one of those pieces where a flat finish looks perfect! Seriously - very nice work Joe!
