Dunno what it is....but I like it.
7"x4"x1/4"thick...1 coat Minwax Antique Oil. Left a 1/16" foot to raise it up a lil' bit.

Joe,
It may be honey locust but I'm not sure. What I am sure of is you've got a real winner there!!!!

Can't offer any help IDing it, but the piece sure is nice!

Very nice NE Joe! Sure like the color and grain of the wood. Hopefully someone will be able to ID it for you!

Kinda reminds me of the Locust we have here but like you Joe dunno for sure. But will say that is one beauty of a NE. Nice work.

Looks good!! Looks like good ol' oak to me... but then I am pretty bad at IDing wood. I have turned some Elm that had a similar grain pattern but the color is not the same, of course that varies a lot too and the elm doesn't hat the "flecks" on the QS edges like that either.

Beautiful curve Joe. I really like the total effect. Gotta try one of those NE when I get some more green work under my belt. If you've seen any of my posts, most everything I have that's not labeled is dunno!

great job looks awesome , looks like fresh cut honey locust to me it would of taken on a darker color in the sap wood if you would of let it dry longer, i've got some 12" rought cut boards that have been air drying for over a year now and i have some turning pcs that i've had for 3 years drying, i'll work on a pcs this week and post some pics and show you what i mean as soon as i get my planer should be here this week i'll post som pics of the 12" boards planed for you

how did you like it for turning? i love turning it. i mainly use it for handles for my gouges and stuff that i need a dense long lasting wood for
