I just picked up a Miller Falls No 6 hacksaw. I thought it was kind of different but I could use another one in the shop. The handle is like that on a dovetail saw and the frame adjusts to about any length blade you could find. I did a few searches on the web and only found it listed as one of the tools in the Davistown Museum. Their discription discribes what I have to the letter.
(Steel, brass and wood, 19 1/2" long, 14 5/8" adjustable frame, signed "No 6 Millers Falls Co. Millers Falls Mass USA" with their
star cartouche.
An uncommon example of an unusual early Millers Falls hacksaw design. )_
Do any of you have an early Miller Falls catalog and or info. that you could share on this saw. Am I right in that the star was used in the late 1800's and early 1900's? I bought it to use but I would like to make sure it is not a collectable before I do.
Thanks for your help.
