This is a simple hall table with a solid Figured Cherry top and a painted poplar base. It's not recent. It was one of my first pieces and my wife thought I should post it. It's one of her favorite pieces. (that's all that counts you know)

Chris -

I can easily see why it is one of her favorite pieces. It is a very attractive piece. Good contrast between the natural wood and painted legs/apron and very good lines/proportions.

Well done,
Ted

Chris, that's beautiful...great lumber selection and nice design. I, too, can see why you like it so much. If you ever get tired of it...send it to my house!

"Simple", maybe, but elegant at the same time! I also note the wonderful finish on the top. Any info as to your stain/finish process? Cherry is a bugger to get right and you nailed it! I want to know *how*! Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the comments, however, there is nothing fancy on that top. It's about seven coats of clear high gloss lacquer, that's all. It popped that figure wonderfully. Maybe the credit goes to the wood itself. I have to say that I have come to like lacquer on Cherry a lot. Have a great week.

As stated above, this was one of my first projects and the first time I ever used lacquer. If I remember correctly, it's seven coats with a light sanding (360grit) between each.
