First let me introduce myself, my name is Dan Starr and I just received my first laser about 3 weeks ago. So I am just getting started down my path towards starving artisthood. I would like to thank everyone here who has shared their knowledge on this board. I have spent the last week reading the 80+ pages of posts and they have been very helpful. So again, Thank you all.

Here are some samples of my first attempts....

Very good work.

If you continue to do work like that, would be highly unlikely you would be a starving artist.

I also have to admit my envy to those of you who have real artistic talent.

I will have to say that I traced out a simple horse puzzle and vector cut in 1/4" oak that turned out well. I am working on a buyer for 50 cents. He chewed me down from 1 dollar.

All jokes aside, that is truly amazing. I would hope one day to do some amazing pieces as you have done. May take me a few more weeks (translated decades) than you, but I can dream.

You have a lot of talent there Dan. Very nice composition and well presented. I agree with the rest, you wont be starving for long. Sure hope you've got a website to show those off!

Exceptional work for a beginner with a laser!
Your artwork reflects that you are one of the true artist.
I envy people with your kind of talent.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all your kind comments. I think my work thus far is simply a reflection of how much fun I'm having playing with the laser. I didn't even know these things existed untill I saw one at a flooring trade show in Vegas back in Feb.
Here are a couple of pic's of my first 2 paying jobs. Nothing like starting off under pressure.......

Nice work Dan. Welcome to the Creek. It looks like you have a large format table. I would like one like that some day also. There was a 1000 watt laser with twin heads at an auction and it went for close to 100K but it would be over 300K to get a new one. So for now I am happy with our Trotec 60watt. Thanks for sharing and look forward to see more of your posts.
