We have a Habitat for Humanity store nearby, builders from all around donate leftovers. Sinks, cabinets, windows....you name it. The other day I found piles of hardwood, neatly wrapped with names and dates. Some were shaped, but most were just small blocks. I suspect they are samples, but I got them for almost nothing. Took them home and just started to play. As I said, I have no clue as to the wood. The finish is just BLO and buffing.
Wow, what fun, more to come.

Nice job on the bowls Paul. The big bowl looks like Mahogany.

Nice work Paul, sorry I can't help with the wood. (The smaller one looks like Walnut-maybe). HFH is opening a store in our area. Guess I better check them out!

Nice looking bowls. Wood looks a little light in color for walnut, perhaps butternut?
