Here is a lidded box I did using a idea I got from Ray Key. Box is really rather easy to make. It is spalted maple. Finished with Minwax Antique Oil and Lacquer. Buffed. It is 2 3/4" across and 4" tall with the finial. The LOML wants me to make another except turn a indentment in the top and put a walnut piece in to make it look like a apple. I told her I would try.

Nice one Bernie! Let us see the apple if you do it. I've read an article on line (somewhere) about turning fruit. He was making them solid, but I had wondered about turning one into a box.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it. This was a fun box to turn and am pleased as it goes pop when the lid comes off. As soon as I get time I will probably make the apple box.

Nice box Bernie! Now you need to get one of those "fancy" chucks so you can make a curved stem for that puppie!

Bernie, that's a neat looking box. I have yet to try one of those. Someday.....

BTW I like your LOYL's idea of a different species for a stem, to simulate an apple. It would be great if you could get your hands on some bloodwood for the main body and ebony for the stem.:) (Do I know how to spend your money? Of course!!!):p

I am looking for some red wood of some kind by the way Mark and either a dyed or ebony stem. Holy cow that is dangerous when two great minds think alike. ;) The LOML just walked away shaking her and said sheeesh. :p I told her it could happen!!!!!!!!!
