Acrylic frames

Anyone have success on laser engraving an acrylic frame like the one pictured below? It is kind of hard to see, but this is the style that the picture slides between the front and the piece that is folded over the top. I have an order for 400 if I can engrave the school's name and a message on them. The sample I tried came out clear, not frosted, regardless of my settings. Even rub 'n buff did not help much.

It's extruded acrylic if it came out clear , the only way to do this is to deep engrave and colour fill rather than try "frost" it.
