I finished my first turning this afternoon, it's a 4" x 4" segmented parallam cylindrical form (pencil holder, maybe?). I had a tough time with it--it broke into pieces on Friday a.m. but I tried to save it. I didn't get the inside as fully finished as I would have liked because I was a little concerned about another catch making a parallam grenade again...anyway, here it is...

Way to go Keith !!! Curious as to what type of glue you used. Looks good from here:) :)

Thanks Keith!

I used PVA/Titebond to glue the chunks back in. The original segments were glued up with epoxy but I'm thinking that the PVA might be a better way to go on the next one. Oh, and some CA to help tighten up the end grain.

Keith that is a nice save. Make a fine pencil holder. Nice job. Keep'em coming.

Excellent round thing Keith. I'm going to have to try turning that stuff someday. I would imagine the glue in it is pretty tough on your tools tho.

Thanks for all the nice compliments!

I think the glue is a little tough on tools--but I don't really have a basis for comparison yet. Spinny adventure #2 might be something with regular ol' wood...:D

I wouldn't have believed it was the same one you posted before. Great job and keep 'em coming! :)
