It's time to buy a new parting tool and I have some questions. Do any of you use the diamond type? I have a 1/16 Sorby for small work and a 3/16 that won't hold an edge. After searching this site I am still up in the air as to which to get, another 3/16 or a 3/16 diamond. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I don't use anything but thin parting tools. I make my own from industrial hacksaw blades. I have some in process and when I get them done I will post a pic. If you need to buy a "fat" parting tool get the diamond tool because of the built in side relief.

My parting tool is of the "normal" variety. I considered adding a diamond, but I have a bedan which so far has done tasks for which I would have otherwise wanted a diamond parting tool. That's not to say I won't need one in the future though.
