Hi:

I would like to make a horizontal router table that uses short drawer slides for x and y axis movements.

Does anyone know of plans that exist. I read about one many years ago but didn't save the article.

I would use it for mortises and floating tenons and raised panels.

Thanks

Fine WoodWorking # 143. It does work well. A friend made one before the article was published and it was pretty impressive. A horizontal table without the XY table is enough to do raised panels. You can use the router mounting fixture from the article and mount it on another table or your table saw. Also the Grizzly 0540 does a great job as a slot mortiser with the added bonus of being a dloweling machine. Very heavy duty compared to the drawer slide thing and not too much more expensive.

The router mounting plate in FWW is mcuh simpler and has other uses in mounting to other machines.

Instead of drawer slides you can use bronze bushings and steel rods.

Fine Wood Working # 141 has quite a good article on this. It is the one I remember.

I could attach a photo if I knew how. Frustrating process. Can someone explain?
