Long story so I won't go into it again, but I hope this batch of Bessey's is packed better than when they put the 60 inchers on sale the last time.

I got two a couple months ago. They were individually wrapped in a corrugated cardboard that was basically a gummy sheet folded over the clamp and onto itself. The package itself wasn't terribly strong, but the clamp couldn't slide around inside either. It wasn't easy to open, but the clamps were fine.

You might want to check out the prices on the JET "K" clamps at woodworkers source. They have some starting at 25 bucks.

I picked up a pair, always like to have the longer besseys for casework. I took hope the moron that sent my long Besseys the last time doesn't work in shipping. They put them in a cardboard tube with packing tape on the ends, the clamps busted out in shipping and it took several replacements to get clamps that weren't destroyed.

Thanks again for the heads up. I am watching for the 24" or 31" to go on sale again as I could use about 4 more, for now. :)

If anyone has not purchased the bessey clamps yet, I would highly recommend looking at the JET versions. I have a number of the bessey clamps and the most irritating thing in the world is when I unscrew the clamp slightly and the head slams into my thumb or catches the skin on my hand as it falls down!

Anyone have the Gros Stabils? I think they're better, though they are now owned by Bessey. I have both brands, and reach for the Gros Stabils first.

I was in my local Rockler the other day. They still has several of the Jet Framing Clamp Kits (2 40" clamps and 2 24" clamps plus bench dog inserts and the 4 corner blocks). I asked if they were still selling them for $99 and the clerk said, "Sure." I bought one set. After I got home I kicked myself for not buying at least two at that price, so the next week I went back and bought another one. Your local Rockler may do the same thing. It's worth a try.:D

I received 2 a couple of Christmases ago but didn't use them for 6 months or so. Then I tried them and took them back almost immediatley in exchange for Besseys. When you put too much pressure on them they "lock up" and I had to take a hammer to get them unstuck.

Never any problem with the Besseys though although it is annoying when they slide down the shaft.

I have a few of the Gros Stabils, they work fine for me. They're older though, got 'em some time ago 10 years maybe.

I'd like to try out some of the new Jets.
