Another piece of Red Gum... ended up 5-1/2" tall and 5" wide... still needs a good buffing, but I went ahead and took pics tonight. Feel free to speak your mind on it...

Jason....Not the same kind of gum...The stuff in the photo is from the land down under.

Beautiful form Mark! Great looking wood! I like the burned rim. If you have the time - please post a picture after it is buffed. Just curious how it would change the way it looks. Very nice work - as always!

Simply gorgeous. Please don't buff it!!! I like the satin look of it. it does something to say the wood speaks for it's self. I may be too late, but oh well, I said it.

I guess I am a naturalist when it somes to wood. No stain, paint, or high gloss finishes. I think a lot of times it detracts from the wood, and makes it look too factory/artsy. I like it to look handmade, by an amature/craftsman. Not to say high gloss finish does not look good, just looks too.........finished for lack of a better word.

So take my advice for what it is, personal preference.

figures oh well I like it alot I used some tasmainian eucaliptis (sp) wood from woodcraft and it had the same kind of look. My project was no where near as nice though.
