Hi all,
I just moved to the Monterey Ca area, and have had a tough time finding a source of hardwood other than mail order. Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks,
Eric

If you go a bit north - Watsonville -, there is a hardwood supplier I like to get stuff from - Jackel Enterprises. They also have a website.

Jackel's very good, and Aura hardwoods in Soquel/Capitola is pretty good too. San Lorenzo Lumber on 41st used to have a decent selection of S4S hardwoods at reasonable prices, but they got bought by a larger hardware chain and all reports suggest operations have suffered. Not sure if this is the case with the lumberyards. Would be a shame if it was--the guys in the lumberyard (at both the 41st and River St. locations) were absolutely some of the best people I've ever met in woodworking, and they knew their stuff. Hope they're doing well.

What a beautiful place, I envy you, except for the cost of living.
