And it was !!

I've been making the last of the cabinet doors for the kitchen. They are made of solid oak with oak ply panels. I ran them thru the drum sander to flatten them and you guessed it .

The veneer on the plywood keeps getting thinner and thinner.
Tomorrow it's back to the OS and belt sanders.

Experience is a Great teacher but it comes with a very high Tuition...

BTDT!

Start fresh in the morning, and all should go well.

Were these 3/4" rail and stile doors?

Yes Steve they were. I tried to "sneek up" on the thickness before contacting the plywood. No luck.

Tom

Ps: Steve I always look forward to you input in a thread. You give great comments.

Hey thanks Tom.:D

Ok. Wondering why it contacted the plywood panel.

You inset the panels into the grooves?

You have my curiosity going....:D

Yes Steve,

The normal rail and stile setup with a divider in the middle. The panels were tongue and grove.

The LOML wants flat doors because they are easy to clean. I was should have finished the door with the ros  but I got crank happy with the wheel on the drum sander :o and sent the door through one more time.

Not to blame the plywood for my mistake but I did notice that the oak veneer was extremely thin. The plywood came from the blue box store and was made in China. It was very inexpensive but didn't have the quality that I've seen in the past.

All said it boils down to driver error big time:o
