handtools on.....plywood??

i was taught planing plywood on edge was a big no no never ever. but ive seen a video of david marks hand planing an edge of plywood for a better fit...is the glue in plywood really that bad for your irons, or is it just like regular wear on the iron? thanks!

The glue will dull your blade very quickly, but some times you got to do what ya got to do.

Sure you can....if you really need to. I do it all the time. It won't ruin the iron, but it will dull it pretty quick, that's all.

This would seem to suggest that it's the endgrain plies that dull the iron, and not the glue lines

I agree with Zahid. The end result is what rules. Now...excessive work on this stuff would not be a great idea relative to iron life...

I've done it numerous times.

Say like fitting a ply cabinet back.

Never noticed any ill effects on my block planes.
