I found a very nice jig for cutting the pins on a dovetail with a homemade router jig. It is by Glen Huey I think. It allows pins to be very narrow on the one end; about 1/8 inch or less.

Do you think nice tail boards could be cut and look professional, with a very good saber saw, like the Feestool one?

Steven, if you have a bandsaw you could probably do a decent job. I can imagine using a saber saw, but if you have one, give it a shot. As a long time procrastinator into the hand cut DT world, I'd say just bite the bullet, buy the right tools, and learn how to cut them by hand. I still use my dovetail jig for some things, but you can't beat the look, IMHO, of the hand cut.
