Hello,

I am going to be making some kitchen knives and plan on using damascus blanks. I have looked on the net and there seems to be a wide price range and many retailers. Can anyone recommend a particular company?

I really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Kyle

Damascus swords were made by splitting the lead edge and inserting a higher carbon content strip of tool steel into the blade.

Damascus Shotgun barrels were made by winding and hammering red hot wire around a shaft. The result was a rather sturdy barrel good for black powder but don't use a modern load in one or you'll likely burst the breach.

There is at least one guy on tradgang dot com who makes his own blades- Doug Campbell. I'll PM you his e-mail address.
