Dad's looking for a lumber yard. Any of you Creekers that live in the area have a source you use for lumber? Escondido, San Marcos, Carlsbad, O-side, etc. Oh, . . . for all you folks in the "rest" of the country; all these sites are in California. :D

A couple years ago there was a place that was inland a bit that harvested trees that were blown over in storms or cut down when people would redo their landscaping. For the most part these were not your run of the mill trees that you see in lumber yards. Ican not remember the name but I believe there was an article in fine woodworking a number of years ago.
Sorry I couldn't be more help, been a long time since I lived out there.

Does he have access to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base? If so, there may be a wood hobby shop, which should be a good source for hardwoods. I used to use the hobby shop at the New River Air Station in Jacksonville, NC for years. Had the best selection of hardwoods and prices for miles around.
